Has anybody ever watched Hickok 45's cleaning videos? They're all the same" hose it down with ballistol and then dry off".

Yeah, he's awesome, but he gets a little berserk with the Ballistol. I use it more judiciously, I just am too much of a tight-wad to splash it around like that.

Has anyone ever heard of Safari Charlie Product? Picked some up at a gun show and I was curious if anyone had any feedback on it.

I've known a guy who only cleans his shotgun once a year, right after waterfowl season. He just takes the barrel off and hoses down the "guts" with liquid wrench. It is not very pretty at all, but works for him, I guess.

Seriously, how does the ballistol know when to clean and when to lube?

Actually, I was taught to mix Ballistol with water for cleaning, wipe it down well, then I use a blow drier on the weapon to remove as much H2O as poss.

I then wipe it down with straight Ballistol and wipe it down again to leave a very thin film on all metal surfaces.

I have to say that "Hikok 45" only uses straight Ballistol and even his older firearms look to be in good shape.
