GSG .22's-Any good?
Got one in a trade today, wondering if anyone had one, and what you think of it.

Looks like alot of fun, I know my kids are gonna love it. From what I can tell, it's very well built.

I don't like the grip size, for a .22 it seems a bit too bulky. But it's a 1911, so that can easily be fixed.

I traded a rossi 38 spl. for the GSG 522SD & I love it!
It will eat (any) kind of 22lr ammo including the subsonic & its very accurate!
I've heard the first GSG's were hit & miss?
If you want to make the firearm a lil more reliable/safe? check out-google- hammer strut mod.

i have a gsg it does like lots of ammo but does like jamming up on the cheap walmart hollow points for some reason. but yes very accurate and very well built for the money. and a mountain of custom extras available for these rifles.

We went to the range today, and my sis shot 2 magazines at 7 yards all in the X but for one stray. Had a few FTF's but that was a product of her cheap ammo no doubt.

Good to know.
I was in a spending mood and wanted to spoil myself after Christmas. I had a few gift cards for our local Cal-Ranch store, however, they were sold out of most of their stock and had no idea when their next shipment of AR's were coming in. So, I picked up the GSG-522SD and a Browning Buckmark Camper. They had a S&W 15-22, but I already have a couple of those (great rifles IMO), so I opted for the GSG (it came with a drum magazine)
Took it out this last weekend and had no problems with it. Need to pick up some straight mags for it though..., or, find a way to install a vertical foreword grip (the drum mag made for an awkward foreword grip).

I have 2, one is the same as the picture. Love it. I use it to break in newbie shooters and everyone loves it. It's a pita to clean until you get used to taking it apart.
On that note, I shot it for 4 years, thousands of rounds and never cleaned it, and it always worked. Nothing but good things to say about it. I also use it with a red dot to hunt squirrels.
It handles remington subsonic ammo nicely.
