Default Sights pop off brand new Shield 40

So I took my new M&P Shield 40 to the range. I noticed the front sight popped off!!! I asked the guys at the range for suggestions. One guy said just paint it with nail polish. I laughed but considered it lol. I called SW and they said either ship it and have it fixed and shipped within 3-4 weeks or.. paint it with acrylic paint or nail polish!! lol So I had a buddy artist of mine dabble white paint in the sight. He used acrylic paint and said it was almost identical to nail polish. either way it worked!

I have heard more complaints about the M&P sights than any other handgun in history

You would think they would change something up, they are really good guns, its a shame they have all that trouble.

I agree but the paint really was a quick fix and looks stock because that's what they use.. Acrylic paint.

You know I like a lot of others have had this problem. When I called S&W they were very very nice and considerate. Telling me exactly what they told you. So I told them that I would take care of it myself. So I made sure to remove ALL the remaining remnants of the white paint, then cleaned it good with some alcohol. I picked up some Krylon "Glow Orange" paint and took a toothpick and slowly filled the hole with paint. A little at a time so that it would dry in layers and not remain a soft glob of paint too just fall out again. So far so good. And on top of that, with the Color I chose, it's A LOT faster picking up my front site! Most if not all of my times are faster especially practicing point shooting and double taps. You should at least try it, because if you don't like it, or it doesn't seem to work for you, all you gotta do is remove the paint and go back to white! I'm thinking about Blacking out my rear site at the moment. Good luck Later, and Keep your Powder Dry!
