m&p45 vs xdm45

i want one just unsure of which one, is there much difference in the two.... i know there both good guns. i want to shoot some matches at my local range and also be a defensive gun.

I have an M&P40 and XDm9, both full size.

For me the M&P is more comfortable but the XDm has a better trigger.

If you're gonna carry, the M&P feels a little more compact at least between my two, but it's not much difference.

Both extremely reliable, have over 2K rounds through them with various ammo and not so much as one hickup. I keep em clean though.

You really need to hold/shoot both and decide for yourself, you can't go wrong with either one.

Like you said they are both good guns.
If you want to shoot matches i suggest a 22lr with a bull barrel at 30 yards :p

But seriously for a comp gun it depends on what you are more comfortable with.
Zues said he prefers the m&p. I prefer the XD. You might not like either of them
Buy what feels best in your hand and in your carry holster.

I have the M&P 45 and the XD 45 Tactical and both are great pistols. I've never shot the XDM so I am not familiar with that trigger, but my XD45 has a slightly better trigger than my M&P. Both are ergonomic, but for me I prefer the M&P just because it seems to fit so much better in my hands. I think if the M&P came with something like and APEX trigger installed from the factory, then it would match up to the XDM. Here are mine.

Wow those look awesome, especially that M&P!!! More pics of that bad boy pleaze ;)

Is that Cerakote on the barrels, what color?

WarFrog 06-25-2013 04:02 PM

It's a TiN (titanium nitride) coating done in a PVD (physical vapor deposition) chamber. Extremely hard and very thin application. This barrel you see has approximately 800+ rounds through it and there is little to no signs of wear, plus the carbon just wipes right off.

This is my M&P 40C with the same coating. This is a much better view of the coating.
