Default M&P 9 Shield Pocket Carry?

I'm trying to decide between the Ruger LC9 and the M&P 9 Shield for concealed carry. The only edge on the LC9 is the fact that I hear can be pocket carried. Other than that I am really considering the Shield. Anyone pocket carry the 9 Shield?

I had an LC9 (until I sold it to my brother last week) and a M&P Shield 40. The Shield is just a hair to big for pocket carry but otherwise I give the edge to the Shield. With a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster the LC9 was a great gun for pocket carry.

I carry my shield in a kydex IWB holster. It disappears nicely under any shirt not tucked in. I also have a pocket holster for it, but think it is just a tad big for the pocket.

I can carry my shield in my pockets with the short mag fairly well.
I was able to grab a Galco inside the waist holster at a local shop, At first I was not very comfortable with it on untill I started wearing it at the "5 o'clock" position. At first i was wearing it at 10 and 2-3-4, but once I tried it at 5-6 it was great. Even driving and getting in and out of a vehicle.

Its a bit on the large side for pocket carry. I tried a kahr cw9 for pocket and no working for me and its smaller than the shield. I have pocket carried for 26 years my promary choice to carry too. I now 2:10 carry an iwb for the cw9, pocket a smaller 9mm. A low cost old faithfull holster kit is a good iwb holster.

Thanks for the input everyone. Sounds like I may have to consider an alternate method to pocket carry if I go with the Shield. Maybe large cargo pants pockets?? I was really sold on the LC9... except for the long trigger pull everyone comments on.

Cargo pockets?? Think that thru. You should want to carry in one location from pants to pants with out haveing to changing how you carry. Besides cargo pants will need a larger "pocket" holster to control a pistol in one position . Most cargo pants will swallow up a pocket holster and still have room enought for it to turn sideways or upside down. Assuming you will not wear cargo paints all the time what are you going to do with normal pants. Buy a quality holster and a fat boy or skinny guy can hid a sheild sized pistol inside a tucked in botton down shirt. Trigger type!? If a trigger is smooth any type of triiger design can be mastered. More of a head game than trigger type.

Watch some of hickok45's youtube videos to see how hard , or easy different size pistols and trigger type effect a good shooter. To many people today get spoiled to a certain type of handgun and all others are just not right. I don't care if a handguns is a 2lb sa revolver or a 8lb da pistol so long as its smooth.

Depends more on the pants. My jeans, Levi 505s, carry bigger than a shield easily...

6.5", 30oz.

Had a LC9. Traded it for a Shield .40. Sheild is just a very small fraction larger than the LC9 (.1 longer & .03 thicker). Not even noticable. I carry the Shield everyday in my Blackhawk cargo pants or shorts. They have a concieled zippered pocket right next to the right hand front pocket. Fits very nicely with out a holster. Doesn't print or move at all. Sits pefectly ready to go.
