Default M&P .40 Slide Release

Just bought a new M&P .40c, as I will be taking the Illinois CCW classes shortly. I've only had the chance to put 15 rounds through it so far, and I love it. One thing about it is the Slide Release seems VERY hard to push. Will that loosen up with use? Or is there some way to loosen it up?

The MP40 does not have a slide release. Rather, it has a slide stop. It is designed for you to pull back on the slide and release it forward, not move the slide stop down. Hope this helps

I suggest shooting it. A lot more.

The gun will loosen up over time.

So go shoot it. A lot.

Iv had my sheild 40 for a few months. The slide release is hard also and I have like 60 rounds through it. It will prob loosen after a hundred or so.

The recoil spring is the reason for it being do hard to release. Once it gets broken in it will be easier

Slingshot the slide. It is a slide stop not a slide release. It might look cooler to drop the slide one handed but it is not proper technique.

I'm guilty of doing it too but I try not to.

Push/Pull slide, got my CCW in Florida, the instructor turned a 4 hours class into like 6 because he loved teaching the stuff so much, lots of tactical / mechanical advice.

Are you doing this on an empty mag? If so, that's probably 90% of your problem, as your having to work against the hold open catch.

The left side of my slide stop is harder to press than the right side, but it's still not too bad.

As some of the other commenters mentioned, sling shotting the slide is always a good choice.
