I have 3 and one on the way, 40c shield 9 and a 15-22 with the cabelas bi-tone 40 full size on the way. I wouldn't trade any of my m&ps for anything. Sold a sr9c, xd 9sc and a Walter pps 9 and replaced them with my current pistols.

My wife encouraged me to order the M&P 9 with the Crimson Trace integral laser. I had not seen one (with the CT) but thought it sounded okay. The problem is that it comes with the medium back-strap (not a problem), however it is on the back-strap and since the material is flexible- if your grip is not the exactly same pressure the impact point is not the same shot after shot.
This may be positive- it lets you know if the pressure is not the same, which for accurate shooting is highly desirable, sort of a "feed back device". On the other hand---.
As some have noted there was a problem with the front sight which only was 1/2 full of the white paint. It has since been replaced with a "Big Dot" sight system.
The last problem was failures to eject, polishing the chamber cured that. I do like it and it is now what the factory should have shipped.

Sorry for those whom experienced issues with their M&Ps. I on the other hand have not had an issue what's so ever. I love my M&P full size 9.

It's not as easy to repair like a Glock.
