The Canadians and English both bought the Commercial Colt New Service revolver, in .45 Colt. I have a box of metal jacketed .45 Colt made by Dominion Cartridge Co. dated Jul. 1944 and marked for "Use in .45 Colt New Service Revolver."
Also, some M1917 revolvers were issued during WW II, and were in service as late as 1955 or so.

P.S. Incidentally, I saw a pristine Colt New Service, apparently late production, offered for $1245.00 Last edited by Bob Wright; 09-15-2008 at 02:44 PM. |
