Which wouldyou choose?
Here are a few choices.... They are all prettybadass ... S&W M19, M27, M586, or the M625 (.45) and why? What would be your use? For fun? For range? For carry? For hiking? Etc etc. entertain me and yourself

Why not have all of them? :-)

I wish ! In my dreams. Or a few years....

I already have an M19, otherwise that would be my choice.

My very first pistol was an M586, regret having to unload that one, years ago, that would be my second choice.

Now, I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have an M625, for ammo commonality with my Ruger SR45. If I get my hands on a 625, I may have to rethink my "gun of last resort" for a SHTF scenario!

If I found a deal on any of them I'd buy it. I love Smith wheel guns.

But the 686 is one of my favorite looking revolvers. The blued is even nicer so out of your list I'd choose the 586. Then again, I have a 66 and love it, so in that regard maybe I should choose its blued brother, the 19.

Ill just take them all please.

Couldn't tell you,I've never owned a S&W so I don't know anything about them. Now if you'd listed some Rugers, then it would be a different story ;).

IMHO every handgun collection MUST have a 4" medium frame .357 Mag revolver. The 586 is a PERFECT choice. All others are icing.

WTS, I do not own an L-frame Smith. I have a K-frame (M-65) and 7 N-frames.

I would go with the 625 and use it at USPSA matches. Haven't shot one yet but it is the dominant revolver.

I already have a 686 and a 28. Of what else you listed the M27 would be my second pick. Going off list a 29/629 would be my actual second pick.

I own a Model 19 and a Model 28, and like them both. A lot. Years ago I had a Model 25 in .45 LC and it was one of the most accurate revolvers I've ever shot. I'd probably go with another one.

Well, this was my solution:

The Model 586 is, in my opinion, the best .357 Magnum to come down the pike. It is stouter built than the K-Framed guns, more easily handled in rapid DA firing than the K-Framed guns (for me) and has the longer cylinder than the N-frame .357s (and Pythons) so is an excellent gun for handgun hunting. The 4" gun fits nicely into a good holster and is easily carried as a concealed carry arm.

I've been through many .357 Magnums, Model 27s and 28s, Pythons and Troopers, and the Model 586 remains my choice.
