Want a revolver.
I am thinking of sneaking a revolver into the house. Here is what I want.
Double action
Stainless Steel
357, 41, 44 mag
Price range $500
What do you guys think I can get. I have been looking and I want a smith because I have had 2 smiths before but all the ones I find I like are double the budget.

You should be able to find a pretty nice model 66 for $500. or less. Check around. Chances are you can find a model 19 and maybe a 586 or 686 as well.
Good luck and let us know what you get. Your secret is safe with me, but I don't know about some of these other guys.

BTW, nothing wrong with a Ruger GP100 either. As you know, I'm partial to those.

Maybe if you're lucky you can find a used S&W 657 or 57 .41 mag in the $500 range--my personal favorite. They are out there in full under lug versions that have a little more muzzle weight and are great to shoot! But getting hard to find... Good luck!

I see used 686s and Ruger GP100s for <= $500 all over my area.
If you intend to shoot a lot of heavy loads, I'd shy away from a 19 or a 66 as they aren't built as tough as the 686/GP100...

Check online at GunsAmerica. Smith or Ruger take your brand pick, one is just as good as the other, IMO.
As far as caliber, one of each, .357 and a .44 mag. You can find a GP100, 686, 629 and a Blackhawk all online and used in that $500-$650 price range. They still got plenty of life left in them.
Use a lay-away payment plan, then you can get more gun for a little more and low, equal, and spread out payments. It maybe a little easier to "sneak" it into the house and past security that away.

FYI, I found S&W 686 and S&W 620 online new for $630 and $620 respectively.

You can likely find a police trade in type gun in that price range. Many of the 66's have had so few Magnums fired through them they are like new. The 4" M-65 is a stout piece also. Good luck with a .41 or .44 in that $ range. 57's and 657's in good used condition go for near 2X that price and are scooped up quickly.

A S&W 686 or Ruger GP100 seem to be your best/only option given your price range. Although, we all know that a strict $500 limit really means $650 minus tax.

THAT ain't gonna work. You can't sneak a revolver into the house AND have it ready for use. You really need to be up front with your family (or wife) and tell them (or her) what you are doing.
