If this is a 2" or shorter, 7 yards might be a better start. If the sight is not hi vis, try replacing it with one.
+1

Forgot to mention all that.

Thx JW no reason why we can't help out our fellow users, and Biker is a good guy from WWK,...
The other thing Biker now that I re-read the thread. Are these the Stock Grips? Because the 85 my wife and I checked out last week had these thin grips that would be better served with some carved wood or a Pacymar or Houge. They are composite rubber,..but the grip was short and thin....JMT...

I have an identical Rossi, except mines shiny and .357 magnum. Single and double action. I shot it 3 times, about 10 yards at a 1.5'' plank/ board. Missed 2 of the 3 shots which made me mad but for how small it is I guess it just requires practice. The one I did hit right in the middle was shot as single action. Went plum through the board with a hollow point bullet. Mine is brand new. Bought it for self defense in the house or traveling. How did you do since the time you bought it? I paid 350 before tax for mine.

also, I appreciate your honesty with how bad you did. It just goes to show all the things that could go wrong. The sight is a pain. I'm use to the simple ones on my rifles. I don't even need a scope with those in my backyard.

I don't know. Out of the whole year I only made it the range once, due to finances, and ended up putting the Taurus in pawn and while i keep paying the interest to keep from losing it, I've yet had the money to get it out of pawn. Hoping to do so by the beginning of summer, to get at least 2-3 of my guns out of pawn.
