Taurus 357 -blows up

Hi,
I just bought a new Taurus -357-7 shot-#66SS. I use it 4 times when I opened a new box of Rem.357-124 gr. bullets. I took the first shot and it blow up. I found all 7 bullets. The bullet that went off, you can see that the firing pin hit it dead center. If you need any high res.pictures of the gun,
e-mail me at martyslures@yahoo.com

Sounds llike you had an obstructed barrel.

No, he's right, it's a Seven shooter.
S&W also made a Seven shot and even an Eight shot revolver.
Six is the most common, but I've seen 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 shot revolvers.

I've had a similar failure. My father purchased a brand new Taurus Tracker .357 4' barrel. I shot 12 rounds of factory ammo through it and cleaned it for him using RemOil products. The next time we went to shoot, his first and last shot with the gun using factory Federal 158gr. JHP, it blew the barrel off which traveled 15 yards down range. It broke off where the barrel screws to the frame. Metal failure. This combined with previous problems with Taurus (24/7, 415) is the reason I'll no longer purchase one. I've been buying used S&W's and haven't had a single problem.

I don't see any ammo recalls on Remington's web site. Send it back to Taurus.

I'm not here to bash Taurus or any make or model for that matter.I had one experience with a Taurus 38 Ultra light snubbie. To be honest I can't remember the model number without looking at my records.I bought it for the wife for her CCW gun.We took it to the range fired a couple rounds.I noticed on three of the chambers the cylinder wouldn't lock up.This was brand new gun.The following day I took it to my dealer, he sent it back to Taurus.I guess it was a couple weeks later the gun was back. He allowed me what I had paid for it. I bought her a S&W M-637 instead. That was my first and will be my last Taurus. One of us could have been seriously hurt if I hadn't noticed it.I've read enough Taurus horror stories on different sites that my decision of never owning another Taurus appears to be the right choice.

My first handgun was a Rossi 971 Vent Rib Compensated .357. I still have it but noticed sometimes the cylinder binds when manually cocking. It locks up fairly tight with very little play, but I don't shoot .357's out of it. Rossi is now owned by Taurus and I doubt I would buy either brand anymore.
