Sp101 <3
I happen to get my SP101 and all I can say is it is wonderfull.
The grips are after market rubber, It was used NOT A MARK on it but @ $450 it was a great buy, the casings that come with the gun show Jun-2010
so the gun was really new compared to my old 9mm, but I cant say one thing bad... the gun just worked.. I was given some Triton Quickshot ammo.
*recoil wise*
winchester silver tip ammo was ok.
magtec ammo was ok,
win white box was ok
the 38 +P ammo was like the magtec ammo.
the Quickshot Triton was EPIC RECOIL!! wow... .
imo this ammo was made very hot... for me to hot..
more recoil than i was used to.. but i use this as my front pocket carry weapon.. and it is great..
Thanks Ruger for making a wonderful Tool.

You've got a fine weapon there my friend. If take care of it it will take care of you for years to come.

I almost never hear of a bad ruger wheel gun unless they never clean it after shooting for drop it.. but I have a ruger 357 and windicator 357 and the ruger is much smaller and thus my pocket gun.. I see a lot of people using 22's as pocket carry but I use my 357.... =)

I have 2 Ruger .44 mags, a Super Blackhawk and a Bisley. I carry one or the other when I feel I might need to repel a large angry furry creature. Not so often now but pretty regularly for about 20 years. Never felt helpless. They are both fiercely accurate. And extremely dependable. Just wish Ruger made them in .475 Linebaugh.

nyb, I've got a Super Blackhawk in 44mag and I can honestly say it is a joy to shoot, even with hot loads. It's extremely accurate and I've never experienced anything close to a misfire. Rugers are known to be built like tanks and the Blackhawk is no exception. If you're looking for a single action, give them a close look.

The 158 gr mag loads are a handful in the SP101 but you can shoot them if you need them. I only carry 158s if I am hiking and might run into something nasty.

I have the SP101 with a Hogue grip. I love it. It is super dependable.
My SP101. Are these the grips you have?

I've got the same gun and grip as Bushman's. I have to say adding the Hogue grips greatly improved the shootability of the gun with .357 loads.
