The gun is a 6 shot.
It's either a model 10, or (more likely) a model 12.
You can open the cylinder, and the model number is stamped on the frame.

You may be seeing something I'm not, but since it's been a few years since I've owned one, I googled up a pic of a Model 36, and they look pretty much alike to me:

A 6 shot has 3 cylinder flutes visible from the side. A 5 shot only has 2.

Open the cylinder, look on the inside of the crane, there should be some markings like MOD 10-2 OR 12-4 AND BELOW THAT THE SER. # This will tell you the model of the revolver and the date of manufacture. It is pinned and recessed and does not have that awful "Hillary Hole" also it has the shorter stroke hammer and the bluing is nice so my guess it is a Mod 10 from the mid to late 70's. If this is your first revolver it is an excellent starter for your collection.

It says mod 12-3 so model 12 right is it still good?

YES!! The 2" 12 is desirable. Lightwetght K frames are nice to carry and nice to shoot. You did WELL.
