Smith & Wesson .357 Mag/.38 Special Highway Patrolmen
Bringing out the old S&W Patrolmen.

Good looking wheel gun you have there. Thanks for sharing the video.

The "Pre-28". Gotta love the N-frames. Works of art. The 6" version was more rare than the 4". I have a 3 screw 4". Tight as a drum and accurate as any revolver I have ever shot.
The second round shown in the video looked like the old Winchester Highway Patrol Metal piercing round. That is considered armor piercing and is very rare these days. |
Yes they are very accurate, no loose shots, just gotta find the sweet spot on the sights.

Our LGS just bought out our local PDs stockpile of revolvers. I have a highway patrolmen on hold, but there are 'bout 20 I could pick through. Anything I should know as far as collect-ability or are there just soooo many it's not a factor?

4 and 5 screw models are more collectible. S prefix serial numbers are more desireable than N.

An N frame S&W in .357 Mag is my favorite wheel gun. I prefer the Mod 27 over the 28. The 27 has a nicer finish.
And I prefer the short barrel models, my favorite of the N frames I've owned was 3 1/2 IN barrel Mod 27. Are you sure those are Stainless steel case's? I always thought they were nickle plated brass. That sure is a nice piece, Have fun with it. Joe-R |
S&W Mod 28 was my first handgun, and then the magnum addiction began...haha
