This is one of a pair of old model Vaqueros that have been worked on by West Fargo (Wes Flowers). Short stroked, 4 click hammers, with hammer stop added, transfer bar removed, hammer built up (cause transfer bar removed), custom base pin, & Eagle Gunfighter grips. Caliber is .357. I use them in CAS when I'm not shooting .45 Schofields or Pietta made SAA copies.

A couple of new toys I recently acquired, the Uberti El Patron in .45 with 5-1/2" Barrel, and an Unfired Colt Frontier Scout 1864-1964 Nevada Statehood Centennial in .22LR with Case. Mark

Lots of Ruger Gents here. Nothing wrong with them, I'll take a 1/2 dozen! Gimme some Redhawks, Blackhawks, and Vaqueros!

As for you Gents who probably know better-and wiser than me, many of these new guns appear to be coming with some baloney mandated, government approved crappy 2-stage Base Pin.

As soon as I got my Uberti El Patron, and did a field strip for cleaning-oiling, I recognized that crap Base Pin. Said to myself, this baby has got to go!

With a little bit of diligent web surfing, I of course came up with Belt Mountain as a source for the good stuff. And good is an understatement!

The Pin I needed, .2495" fit with NASA like precision, these folks got their stuff definitely together, and as for a better fit, it just cannot be had.

The Gun functioned, locked up better, tolerances of Cylinder much better, like the gun took another trip to some custom shop, for tuning. My El Patron feels rock solid, and the fact that their Pin cannot rotate is a down the road advantage to less wear of the Reciever. No affiliation, but for you folks not aware, check them out at www.beltmountain.com

PS, the stock Base Pin is on the left in both Pics, the original Base Pin is the one with two machined Grooves. Mark
