Default S&W model 65

Would it be advantageous to cut the barrel of a S&W model 65 to 3.5"?

What effect would this have on the firing of the weapon?

By the time you cut the barrel and re-set the front sight it could be expensive. Unless you have your heart set on 3.5" barrel, I would say to shop shop around for a 65 with a 3" barrel. It may be cheaper.

I have 4" and 3" 65s and they shoot differently.

Default M-65

The 4" M-65 has a square butt. The 3" has a round butt. I have a 3"m-65 and I love the way it carries and shoots. If you want a shorter barrel you would likely be better off getting a 3" barrel and having it installed. Better yet get a new 3" gun so you can have one of each. Oops, that is the hoarder in my head speaking.

Default My 2 cents...

or...buy a used S&W Model 13 with a 3" inch bull barrel like I did....

Nickel plating was done by the original owner...cylinder crane is marked 13-2

+1 on the used 3" round butt model 13. it took a little while to find one but it's worth the search.
