Hello everyone, I am new to the site so I hope I am posting this question properly. I have a Smith and Wesson Model 27 (5 inch barrel) that was given to me by my Grandfather around 1985 or so. He bought it from a friend of his a few years prior. The serial number is S 186XXX. It is in pretty good shape overall, i stored it in a leather holster when i was a kid and didn't know any better. Some minor wear at the end of the barrel and a few other places. Bore is in great shape overall. If someone could help me out with approx what year it was made and also ballpark value I would really appreciate it. From what I was able to find out so far it was manufactured between 1957 and 1969.
