Default S+W 629...Too good to be true???

At a LGS earlier, S+W Model 629 on consignment, fancy schmancy case with cleaning tools, 175 rounds of ammo...$600!! Everything looks good to me, no customization, timing seems great, cylinder is tight, clean crown/bore, a few minor cosmetic blemishes but nothing to get in a twist about...The ammo alone is worth close to $100...What am I missing here???

I expected to see the prices in the $800-$1200 range, if I could even find one. Is it just me and my 'Get what you pay for' mentality? Is it just the owner is a motivated seller? Or is there something I'm not seeing? The manufacture year is roughly early 90's, I know next to nothing about any production glitches S+W may or may not have had with this model. What say you veteran wheelgun guys and gals?

Am I nuts for even thinking twice about this deal or is there something I don't know about with this gun?

Sage advice and wisecracks are always welcome here...Thanks

Thanks Hoss... Right when I hit submit I realized I could probably just google that... So what exactly were the engineering changes made between the model #s? -1, -2, -3 etc...That was a little tougher to find with my slow azz net connection...

Not a S&W guy but anything pinned and recessed with no "Hillary lock" is a winner.

Vincent!
Evidently from what I understand you have inspected it! If it looks good and the timing is great, and you have checked the area of the forcing cone for excessive lead shavings! My God Man! You mean it isn't at home being fondled yet!!!!!
