I wanted to thank reveneap publicly as he was able to narrow the age of the weapon to 'tween 1948 and 1967. It is a Cxxxxx model 10.

I do have another question as I am far from an expert. I noticed that the serial # on the gun matches the serial # on the cylinder, but when I open the the cylinder, I see a different # on thye swing arm and base. Also, I see that the screws where the cylinder base mates to the grip base have tool marks on them. I'm not sure what this means, but I have a good idea. It is no biggie to me, as I purchased this revolver to use, not for show.

I see no one has an answer for my other question. Almost as disappointing as trying to get on the S&W forum site. Oh well, boom goes the .38 special.
