Default S&w 29-1

One of the local dealers has a 29-1 for about $600. Looks very clean. I think it is stainless but it could be chrome or nickel. Anyone have some knowledge on the 29-1. Also found a stainless Super Blackhawk for under $400. Scuffed up but not shot much.

If it's a 29 it's not stainless. 629s were stainless. A 29-1 in good condition with the box and papers could bring $600 but it had better be NICE. A 629....$4-500 with box and papers in a retail market and it had better just as NICE.

The Ruger....I gave $300 for a nice blued gun in 44 so if it's stainless I could see adding $50 maybe $75.

I can only go by CA prices and a nice condition 29-1 for $600. is a very good price here. 629's are going at least a hundred higher.

According to the S&W bible a 29-1 in excellent condition going to bring $2,850 book says Nickel brings 2 to 3 times standard value... sounds like you need to run back there and grab it if it's still there

The pre-lock N-frames are garnering a premium these days. A nice 29-1 should easily be worth $600, especially nickle

I wish I could buy guns where all you people who find them so cheap do. Around here a "nice" 29-1, in nickel will bring at LEAST $600, and maybe as much as a grand or more. It will have to have a box and papers and be in REALLY good shape to hit a grand, but I see them all the time. Blue isn't much less.

If it's scuffed up, then $600 is a little more than I'd probably be in for it. If it's already scuffed, it won't take long and the nickel will start flaking off. Blued and stainless gun wear gracefully, but worn nickel reminds me of the look of a crack or meth addict. Refinishing back to nickel will be costly.

He said the stainless Super Blackhawk was scuffed up, not the Smith.
