it seems that they put more work into the modern transfer bars. disregarding the amount of clicks on cocking i cant tell the diff tween the vaquero and colt in smoothness. (still kicking myself for passing the colt saa 45 in favor of a m1A i no longer have *sigh*)

After doing some reading and some digging into the ruger vaquero i ran across vids of cowboy action shooting.
Ive heard about it and such but never really looked at it as im not into all that cowboys and indians old west stuff dont really care for westerns much other than the clint eastwood ones.
One thing i did like was it is very much like three gun type matches which ive always wanted to do but doesnt really exist here. Buuuuuut the cowboy shooting thing is hugely popular over in the salem wisconsin area.
After reading the requirements i found you need two saa revolvers so i headed over to my lgs and he called up his distributer and he got me consecutive serial numbers on a pair with the extra 45acp cylinders and 4.62" barrels.
I think i can put up with the cowboy thing just to do the shooting parts.

Pics!
As I understand it you can do the competitions without having to dress up. Wear western-ish clothes and that should do it. Show up in the Zoot Suit you wear every day and that might cause some problems!

You will need an alias. You could start a thread to pick one! A period shotgun, and a period rifle.
Suggest you get a pair of 44s so you can match your rifle cal.
1897 Win. is popular shotgun and 1873 Win. in .44. The Vacquero a great choice in .44 also.

im from texas. grew up in lockhart the town that the battle of plum creek occured and one of the various chisholm trails went through. but my favorite caliber is 45. my vaqueros are coming in 45colt/45acp. if i get another lever gun it will be 45 colt as well. ive already got a 45-70.
