I want a blued vaquero, but I have a ss Blackhawk .357. Both fine guns. I did purchase a set of aftermarket "gunslinger" springs and that helped the trigger enormously. I also did a home stone job on the trigger to smooth it out some. That was pretty easy to do and made a world of difference. The spring kit I got at a gun show, it had a variety of springs to choose from, a similar replacement set is available through Brownell's - http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=22780/Product/NEW-VAQUERO-ANNIVERSARY-BLACKHAWK-SHOOTERS-PAKS

Thanks for the spring set tip!!

I looked at the blued versions in the case and handled one. Ruger bluing is still terrible compared to other gun makers. So im going stainless. Their blue jobs look more like parkerizing or painting than bluing heh.

Im considering having it bead blasted to dull the finish making it more greyish stainless.

I wonder if you could special order or maybe send it in to Ruger to get it tumbled like the .454 Super Redhawk is? That is a nice flat grey look.

I was thinking about diy in a blasting cabinet.

I don't think I would do that. I don't like the finish of glass bead blasting. Maybe walnut shell media? In any case I would do a test piece first to see how it turns out.

Oh yeah im not doing anything of the sort cold turkey on a brand new gun. I want to know the result before i undertake that sort of thing.

If you do get it done, I would be interested to see the finished product.

no doubt ill post pics. i just want to remove the high gloss stainless finish to a duller less reflective one. shouldnt be hard to do on a stainless non-plated gun.

I think both are good guns, my friends dad has a large ruger pistol collection, old stuff and some new ones, the one Ruger I cannot stand the look of feel of is are the Bisley revolvers.

The transfer bar in the old Blackhawks was an afterthought. I never had my Super Blackhawk converted for that very reason. I would rather have five good shots than six dragging and creeping shots.
