Default Ruger Vaquero????

So im a semi auto fan, and have been eyeballing a .357 Vaquero at the store every time I go in there. Im not knowledgeable when it comes to revolvers and was looking for some input. Is this a pretty good representative for my first wheel gun?

As a single action, it is very good (from what I've seen). What is nice is that you can shoot .38Spl in it.

Only thing about the .357 is it can be hard to get rid of. As I understand it the 45 LC is a more desired caliber( I'm sure this varies from state to state). I just picked up a NIB Ruger Blackhawk in .357 mag, I paid $225 for it...

I had a couple of the older models in .44 magnum and I hated to part with them. I've also had a number of Blackhawks.

The Vaquero doesn't have a rear sight, it has a channel along the top strap, whereas the Blackhawk has an adjustable rear sight. So, depending on what you want to use it for, that may affect your decision.

If you want a stout single action revolver, either one is a top notch revolver.

Default Ruger SA

I have many Rugers and have not had any problems with any of them. I have Ruger Vaquero in 45 L.Colt and it is very accurate. It shoots low but because I know that, I can compensate should I ever decide to use it for hunting. (about 6" low) It also shoots with less recoil than the Colt type or double action type revolvers. Maybe because of the weight?

Default Single Actions are Fun

Single actions aren't for everyone. They are for those with a different attitudes.
I have several Ruger Single Actions, using them for hunting, plinking, pleasures.

Those that like the boom boom boom booming as quickly as the trigger is pulled; will be dissappointed.
I have some of those too hahaha.

XD,

I use mine in Cowboy Action Shooting and love it. If you get it and decide it's not for you let me know I might be able to take it off your hands by buying it or making you a trade... you never know
