Ruger V.S. Smith

My boss and his family are going to be buying a .357 revolver and I suggested the Ruger GP100 or the Smith 627 which one do you guys think would be better in terms of durability and price as well as over all comfort.

Smith is the best. Better trigger one reason why the family chose this 681 we got.

I don't know that one is necessarily better then the other. I think it's a matter of preferance. The Smith action is more elegant, but the Ruger is more rugged and lacks the trigger lock that many find objectionable on Smith revolvers. Accuracy between the two is on average about equal. The Ruger is cheaper. They are both great guns.

It's a matter of personal preferance. I prefer Rugers.

Tastes great, less filling. Some like A1, some like Heinz 57. Both are good guns, each has their fans.

627 is a finely crafted N-frame revolver that will likely set you back several hundred more than a Ruger. If he does not like the Smith, he can send it to me, I would love to have a 627 to go with the other 7 N-frames I own.

They are both great guns, I don't think you'll regret buying either of them. Smiths have a nicer trigger pull in double action, but Rugers are cheaper and ridiculously strong. I like them both, I own three S&W's but I'm planning on adding a Ruger or two to my collection.

Go with whichever feels better to you.

Kind of like choosing between a Cadillac and an F-150. Both will get you there, but there is really no comparison.

Go with a Smith. Best revolvers IMO.

Both manufactures make good products I prefer ruger it's a personal thing as
in the area I live ruger were easier to get and always cheaper by at least a hundred bucks. My favorite 357 is security -six stainless that my girl friend
bought me in 1983 still have it and really like shooting center fire revolvers
as you don't have to pick up brass.

I have both. They are both good, but a little different. The 627 is larger than the GP-100. A more direct comparison with the GP-100 is the 686. My 686 is the SSR. It is a really sweet gun, but so are my 627-5PC and GP-100.
