ruger sp101
 

Went shooting today with the family. My son brought his ruger sp101. After popping some clays we brought out the pistols. We had been to a gun show earlier in the day. He bought some hogue rubber grips for the ruger.

I had shot the pistol before and did reasonably well with it. Today, was a different story. I don't know if grips can make that much of a difference. We had set some extra clays against the levy of the pond about 30' away. I pulled down shot, it popped. Moved to the next, popped it and so went 5 of 5. Thats pretty good for me, and it was effortless.

Do you think the grips may have made my form better by their more contour style. ? Or, I just had a good day. I'll tell you this, I was very conscience of the transfer of energy into my forearm bones instead of my hand and wrist.

The grips can make that kind of difference. I'm wanting a set myself for that very reason.

I definitely liked those houges on the sp today,when you grab a hold of them it seems like they grab you back for sure

Grips can make a huge difference. Does not have to be rubber grips either. Different grips cause you to hold the gun different.

I have the Hogue mono grip on my SP101. It makes a world of difference.

My dad HATES Hogues, but I LOVE 'em.

I have Hogue grips on my Kahr CW-9 and my Mossberg 500. I love the tackiness, without being too "mushy".

I love my SP101 and I love the Hogue monogrip on it. :) I carry mine pretty much every day and shoot it as often as I can. It fits in my hands almost perfectly and I'm able to shoot it very well. The more comfortable you are with your firearm and the setup you choose for it, the better you'll shoot and the easier it'll be to shoot well.

I wish I could say my Hogue grips did the same for me, 5 for 5 @ 30', that's awesome. I do feel the new grips help a lot with the SP-101 but I have not tried to shoot the shorty at 30' yet. I'm going to take the challenge and give it a run and see what happens.

Next time out, take both sets of grips and try 'em out back to back, see if there is a noticable difference...
