Ruger Security Six

I got my first .357 magnum Ruger Security Six in 1973, and, even though I really liked it, I managed to let it slip through my fingers. So, when a nice, clean revolver that could have been my gun's long lost twin crossed my path, I was unable to resist taking it home.

Over the years I've owned several; right now I have number four, which is a stainless steel version (the others have been blued) with a four inch barrel. I'm a fan of them -- a good, honest, straightforward pistol.

the ruger "six" series is a classic

The Security Six is a great gun! I put some rubber Hogues on mine a while back & now my daughter likes it so much that she's begging me to leave it to her in my will :D

I remember when they were a dime a dozen here in north Idaho. Every one had one and they ended up being thrown in to sweeten deals on gun trades etc. Like many people I thought they would make them forever and they would always be priced cheap.
I had one I owned three times.
They are so well made and having solid frames are typical ruger tough.. Very accurate and excellent guns simple to tear down.
But like many things Ruger could no longer produce them and make a profit keeping there price down.
So they came out with the Gp 100 which is a great gun as well but can be manufactured easier and is more cost effective.
Some people think there was something inferior about them making Ruger discontinue them and the gp 100 is a superior gun. Not so and to me there lighter weight and my old school taste of not caring for the looks of a full underlug as well.I find them more desirable then a gp 100 even though The gp 100 is by no means a lesser gun.

I bought my Ruger Security Six at a Kmart store in central Calif many years ago. I sold it twenty years later for more than I paid originally. It was an excellent pistol. I sold it because I prefer to shoot 44 spl over 357

Ruger has always made awesome pistols incredibly reliable and just down right tuff. I have owned this one since the early 70s and it has never even hiccuped firing only reloads. I've found the best all round load to be 20.4gr of 296 with 210gr HP

Love my 41 mag

The only Ruger I own is a .44 mag carbine. It's not a handgun, but it doesn't fall short I Ruger's superior quality. The only problem I have with Ruger is the MKII/MKIIIs. I am tryin to repair one that belongs to a relative, and its a repair nightmare! Every time I fix one problem and get it back together right, somethin else goes wrong, or the same problem returns. I swear this gun is cursed.

Usually an FFL can ship guns for people selling online. Some of them charge a fee for that, but at least it takes care of your shipping problem.
