That should be a fine handgun. Its a shame you can't get the surplus 30 carbine ammo like you used to. I have never shot one in 30 carbine but I have heard they are way pass loud but since we all wear hearing protection thats a non issue. I own 18 firearms with the Ruger logo stamped on them and never had a minutes trouble out of any of them.

Something to consider in regard to the .30 Carbine is barrel length, and what kind of velocity you would get from a 7.5" barrel. A typical barrel length for a Carbine rifle is around 16", maybe somebody knows how the shorter barrel would affect velocity and accuracy...
