My first LCR was a 38 followed by a 22 LR, but my new one in 22 Magnum is my favorite. You can't go wrong with any of these excellent little revolvers no matter what calibre you choose.

I went with the .38 and it has been great. It is my BUG and I usually carry in the Fobus ankle holster. This is it next to my wife's S&W.

Finally got my 22mag LCR to the range this weekend. After adjusting to the sight plane on the stubby revolver, I'm happy to say it was a blast to shoot! Trigger pull was long, but honestly not near as bad as some double action revolvers I've shot in the past. Overall, I'm very pleased!

How does the trigger compare to the SW J frame ? I have the model 60 w one of Wolfs competition spring kits n some stoning but it's still not even close to the smoothness of my 686 w similar trigger work.

Ruger's new trigger system was supposed to be semi-custom right out of the box. Was it a bridge too far ? You can adjust to a long trigger pull w drills n lots of ammo. First thing I'd do is change the sights.

It's a self defense gun -- until they come out with a 6-shot .327 Federal Magnum the .38 Special is the best option. The .22 LR is the worst.

It's also a trail gun for plinking & filling the soup pot, a tackle box gun for snake or dangerous/diseased critters and yes, for camping n home defense - its a self defense gun.

Not sure it qualifies as a Tgt gun.

However, if this was my primary SD gun - I w buy a 22 LR or Mag for low cost practice.

Gent wanted to compete in bowling pin tournament at his local club but didn't have a lot of $$ for practice ammo for his SW 357. He borrowed his brothers SW 22 w same barrel length and had similar grips n sights installed like his competition piece. He ran a few bricks of ammo knocking off beer cans w the 22 and then moved up to the 357 w handloads. He won the local tournament.

He credited using the 22 n the smaller beer cans in training for his success.
