I own a 357 mag Blackhawk with a 6.5" barrel. I also have a 357 mag DW with a 10" barrel. A longer sight plain makes a gun easier to shoot. If you are getting the same results from 4" barrel as a 6" barrel it's not the gun. If you can't draw a gun with a longer barrel you need a new belt and holster. A gun with a long barrel is not meant to be carried on the belt that holds up your britches.

A collectible GP100.
You must have gotten one of the very last ones still available as new!

I'll take a shot. The 3ss probably means 3" barrel in stainless steel, right? The "fs" is probably "fixed sight", an attractive option in a 3" revolver, IMO.
Not sure about "hb", perhaps "heavy barrel"?.

I like a 5"? barrel on my S&W revos, but my Ruger GP100s are a 4" stainless and a 6" blued half lug. I much prefer the half lug 6" to the fully lugged 6", but that is just personal preference.

Clem those Rugers are sweet.

I agree with you on the 6" half-lug GPs. I've been looking for one for hunting.
