Personally, I like the look of the shorter barrels, too, but for functionality, you can't beat the longer barrels.

The WC is based on the 3 inch GP100. It's been made in both SS and blued versions. The obvious differences are a set of combat sights and a custom wood insert in the grips, with "fingerprint" checkering. Some people claim the action is smoother than the stock GP100 but I'm not sure if that's true or just wishful thinking.

madauben: IN addition to the above:

The action has been polished and the corners have a"melted off" look to remove excess metal and thereby weight and make it easier /smoother to pull out of a holster.

There is one of those at my LGS in SS. He wants $700+ for it. I don't know if it is worth the extra price compared to the regular models.

$700+ is about the going rate for those. if I dindt already own a number of GP100's I would mdefinetly buy a WC.

Still might..

I prefer the 4" barrel. I believe it to be the best compromise.

Nice Security-Six! I have a ss 2 3/4". Had a blue 2 3/4" as my first carry back in the 1980s. Never should have sold it.
I like the GPS, but I'll stick with the Security's. I'd like to have one of each barrel length.

Thanks boatme98.
This GP was not my original purchase. Ruger recently sent me this as a replacement to a defective one I bought 2 months ago. Here is is my original purchase (next to my Speed Six), but since it was defective and came from a special run they could not replace it with the same model . I'm with you on the Security Six design. That is why I purchased this half lug GP originally.

The GP has a bigger frame and cylinder more like the L-frame Smith where the Security Six is more like the k-frame.
