Ruger GP100

Went down to the local dealer to order one, and he told me the factory was out. If this is the case, these must be poplular. How does one go about finding a used one? S&W 686 wouldn't be bad, but I've heard that the Ruger is more like a tank version, sturdier, a bit more reliabe. Was I led down the yellow brick road?

Usually several to be had on www.auctionarms.com and www.gunbroker.com.

Just type in gp100 in the search box.

You won't be sorry buying the GP100, one of my favorite handguns....

I have a 3" and a 4", both in stainless. Bought them both used and couldn't be happier. You won't find a better .357 than the GP100. My opinion.

Just bought a 3" this week. Haven't shot it yet and it seems to be intimidating because I have only shot a .380. It is an awesome piece. Got mine at a local Pawn shop that had a gunsmith. You can call Ruger from their website with the serial # and they will give you some specifics on the gun.

I purchaces my GP100 for about $200 from my buddy about 10 yrs ago. I have carried it every time I go camping/hunting or horse back riding here in Az/NM. I would stack the GP100 up against any S&W anyday of the week.

I do have to agree with all of you, the GP100 IS built like a Abrams Tank. The only other .357 I have that come close to the GP100 is my Taurus 6" Model 66. I have shot S&W and Colts but the 2 that I have I would not trade for anything.

I think Ruger GP100's have a design flaw. I bought mine in 1992, and barely shot 500 rounds through it. Recentlly in Jan. 2008 when I went to shoot my 357 mag. it was shooting all over the place. I noticed a CRACK at the end of my barrel, between the plunger hole and the bore hole. Everyone who owns a GP100 better check the end of their barrel. I could barely see mine. Ruger won't stand behind their product.
