I have an old model single six I bought back in the 50's. It is a really early number. Instead of converting the gun, I just bought another one, a new model convertible single six. I love both guns. I would just get the sights fixed, and enjoy both guns.

If you do send the gun to Ruger, remove your original parts, as they sometimes get "lost.'
If you must have a transfer bar Ruger, buy a new model and sell your old model. An unconverted old model or a New Model is preferable to a converted old model, believe me. What you get back is an action better suited for a gorilla's use.
As far as sights are concerned, any gunsmith usually will have a Ruger front sight of correct height. Rear sights can be had from Gary Reeder, Hamilton Bowen or Dave Clements.
This is Gary Reeder's rear sight on my .45 Blackhawk:
It is all steel, and is superior to the factory rear sight.

I checked two days ago, I'll check again. That Gary Reeder looks like the ticket.

Bob Wright is right about the converted SA Rugers. I have never fired a converted Ruger I enjoyed shooting. I have an old model Super Blackhawk. If I ever had to convert it. I wouldn't bother with all the "fixes" I would just sell it. At the time when Ruger was doing all the conversions every shooting writer ran the conversions in the dirt. It might be in my head because all the experts that said a the conversion was a disaster. The cause/reason doesn't matter! I don't want a converted Ruger.
