I have had one other person tell me that before and I showed him my Speer number 13 reloading manual, it tells me that the bullet and casing diameter of 357 mag, 38 special, and 38 special+p, are all the same size bullet and the same case diameter, also the same die reloads the 38, 357mag, and 357max, that is why the 38special or +P shoots fine in a 357 however the 38 super auto is 2 thousandths of an inch smaller which is the same size bullet as is used on the 9mm Luger, the Makarov is 8 to 9 thou bigger than the Luger so that I would agree is a problem

Edit: sorry, didn't mean to beat a dead horse, I didn't see Ledbetter already said what I'm sayin,

Yup. My wife doesn't like shooting with 357 mag rounds. But shoots the 38 rnds all day.
