I use Goex FFF Black powder. A chain fire is a rare occurrence. Not really something to be worried about.

There are several ways to load em. I prefer (in this order) Powder, lubed patch, then ball. I dont put any grease over my ball.

I recommend starting with the 1858 Remington. Cabela's has em on sale now, with free shipping. I just bought the 1858 Remmy with the 5 1/2 in barrel, its a heck of a lot of fun.
No sales tax if ya live in Ky. In Missouri ya gotta pay $10 in tax.
