Op, I've handled a heritage arms .22 9 shot, it felt a little on the cheap side but hey, it was under 200$. I've never shot one, maybe someone who has will chime in.

My Husband has a Heritage Ruff Rider that he just loves, wanna say we paid around 250 for it maybe less I don't really remember, we are in CA and you always pay more here seems like

The rifle suggestion is right on though. You can get them everywhere, and they are cheap. You gain added accuracy and a bit of performance as well.
Thanks to all for your input. I do have a couple of .22 rifles. But I like the idea of being able to keep my guns at a low profile when out in and around my property. Neighbors are very close by and I think a pistol would be a good idea. Besides it gives me another reason to buy another gun! I'll check out the Ruger Single Six.
