Default Redhawk in .454 Casuall or .480

I saw that Ruger has brought this five shot revolver out recently, in one of the magazines in stainless and blue.
One version is Bisley grips.
Anyone bought one of these beast yet?
Suggest retail was 969.00. that is a bit steep what is real life price?

When the 480 was first chambered in the Super RedHawk I bought one and also one in 454
I kept the 454 mostly due to bullet choices

Plus you can use 45C in the 454 for plinking, not a big deal if you reload

Hi, Guys -

I'd love to see a pic and description of the Redhawk in 454, but the product line on the Roger website shows 454 available only with the SRH platform.

I guess I'm missing it somewhere?

Anybody got a link?

Thanks, Bayou

Had one. Didn't like it. Sold it. recoil was worse than my son's S&W .500.

Apologies.
The article is in April Reloader magazine pg 53-.
It is Ruger Super Blackhawks offered in .454 Casull and .480 Ruger.
I reread it to see where I saw a reference to Redhawk and didn't see one.

That Super Blackhawk looks like it would be a hoot to shoot!

IF I were interested in something like that, I would go 454. Ammo more available. 45 Colt reduced load option. I get the feeling the 480 will fade away.

I had a SBH in .44. I launched exclusively 300 grainers at 1300 fps. I would not even consider it with factory grips. With Pachmeyer decelerator grips it was controllable and not too punishing on my end. Devastating on the other end. Penetrated better than 7.62 X 51 NATO 147 gr FMJ! End for end on large hogs.

I had a SUPER REDHAWK in 480, but ammo was hard to fine & expensive so i sold it, sold my S&W 500, & even my BFR 45/70. Again all those handgun's ammo was too expensive. I kept my 44, 41, 357 mag handguns

Ammo cost is not a big factor, well it is , but it can be mitigated.
The reasons I got into hand loading, was to save money. I could load a.357 for seven cents and less. Of course brass was everywhere. No one kept the brass. Not as many reloaded, as today.
Part of owning more than one gun is the hobby. I like nice pieces of finely crafted and polished tools that I can hunt with. Mostly I just shoot targets these days.
