I am new here, Don is my name.

Anyway, I have a long barreled Pietta '58. Took it apart for cleaning, deburing polishing and lube. Now, the cylinder won't lock (unless I push the hammer forward while cocking), and at half-cock, if I squeeze the trigger, the hammer will go to full cock, then fall.

I ordered some new guts for it before the project, but I have changed out every component one at a time, still no dice.

Now, I do have a new short barreled Pietta '58, too. Did the same thing, worked perfecty, silky smooth.

Also, the older '58's has a narrower cylinder bolt, with a narrower cyinder indents. Found that out, too.

Anyway, any help?

S Do you have the schematics? So you have a single action acting as a double action? Also is this the revolver your talking about?
