Yeah -- agree with this thinking. I own an older Smith Model 14 K frame. It is a 38 Special and is a good weight for an all purpose gun. I wish it was in 357 - so have been looking around at other possibilities.
Looked at the Ruger SP 101 5 shot. It is a nice size and weight - but noticed that the hammer pull-back is pretty stiff. Tried it's bigger brother the GP 100 - larger gun - hammer is a little lighter. Then went to the Smith side of the counter. They have some stuff - I'm just not as familiar with their names and numbers.
I, too, could use some recommendations for a larger cartridge revolver - so will be following this thread.
My revolver background - my Smith Model 14, two concealable 38's - Smith Airweight 438 and Ruger's LCP. My Ruger Single six convertible 22 doesn't count....
