Need help with a Ruger SP101 .357 that went KB!
I own one of the above firearms. It is probably 10-15 yrs. old. I purchased it new and have only fired less than 100 rounds through it. I was shooting it this afternoon with some friends and while shooting it the barrel blew off. (Couldn't find the barrel) Has anyone ever heard of this or know anything about this being a problem with this gun? Everything I've read says they are very well built guns. Barrel wasn't blocked, shot five rounds before it happened. Any info would be appreciated.

That is a new one on me.The only thing I can think of is a bullet inside the barrel and another round was fired. It would cause extreme pressure and boom.

Wow! 101's are built like tanks. What in the world would cause that?!

Thanks for the replies. Kind of what I expected they would be. Do you think Ruger will stand behind their product in a case like this?

All you can do is send it back to Ruger and see what they say. Ruger has excellent service, although sometimes it can be a bit slow.

What ammo were you using?
Got pictures? Ruger's service will be quicker if your attorney sends it back. Glad nobody got hurt. |
Pics or it didn't happen......I'm sorry but I find this hard to believe.

Yep, I find it hard to believe also.

Yeah, that "couldn't find the barrel" part is kinda hard to swallow. Did it end up in the next township or somethin'? Maybe a very large bird flying through in that moment grabbed it and put it in its nest 'cause it was nice and shiny?... or one of them dang UFOs again...
