Default Need access to Smith & Wesson Serial Numbers

I'm trying to find information on Mod 36 Smith & Wesson .38 Special 5 sgot revolver. It belonged to the late father of a coworker. I'm trying to help her find out what it is worth.

Anyone have access to Smith & Wesson serial numbers guides? I would like to buy it from her, but I want to be sure I am not cheating her and her family.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might try Books-A-Million. Then you could look up the serial and not have to buy the book. Or you can peruse the Big Book of Gun Values and get an idea of the worth.

I just wrote to David Valenze dvalenze@smith-wesson.com about a Model 36 I have and he told me the year it was made. Just provide the serial number and the gun model number with your email and he should be able to help you.

As for value check the gun auction pages, it'll depend on several factors, condition, age, any extra's on it, ect ... they generally run from about $300.00 to $600.00 for used ones unless it's engraved or something special.

Good luck ..

I think this thread has the lowest posts to views ratio I've ever seen.
