I bought mine, 3 inch barrel stainless and like it alot.
Federal has some Personel Defense loads that will deliver the goods.
4 80 grain copper plated 000 bucks traveling out the 3 inch Judge at 850fps, that's better than a 45acp. The box said 1200 but reports on the net are saying 850

I've owned my Judge Ultra-Lite for 2 years now and love this gun. I shoot the Federal 000 Buck Shot @ 7 yds & 15 yds with great groupings. I also load it with Hornady's 45LC XTP jhp with really good grouping at 15 yards & 25 yards. This is a more accurate gun at that distance than people want to believe.

When using it for home defense I alternate the 410 buck & the 45LC's so I feel safe knowing that if the first shot of buckshot doesn't stop someone then the 45LC surely will. Again great gun.

Default Judge go boom baby!

Opinions about the Judge vary a lot, but I own one and love it!

The guys at SurvivalReviews.com just did a pretty good review of one.

I bought a 3" cylinder/3" barrel blued model. Its fun to shoot and its accurate with .45 colt beyond SD distances. This is not a light weight gun which helps to make recoil quite manageable. I've only shot #4 federal shot out of it. The .410 is useless beyond 5-7 yards since the rifling in the barrel causes a wide pattern. I have a problem with mine shooting the .410. After firing a couple of rounds the cylinder locks up. I was hoping that this problem would go away after breaking it in but after 40-50 rounds its still a problem. I will have to send mine back to Taurus for some tweaking.
I bought mine primarily to have something different to bring to the range. I do see it as being effective in an SD situation as a nightstand gun or a car gun.

Default locking up

I cant say for sure why your Judge locks up with 410 shells, but the first Judge I bought did this because the shot shells would not fully seat into the chamber, then it would jamm up when rotating. I sent the gun back to the factory, 7 months later I still had no Judge. The store ended up giving me a new one, and it is perfect.

Some of the 410 shot shells open up a little too long after they are fired. My Judge did that with Winchester shells. I have since stuck to the Federal handgun shells. I normally shoot the 000 buckshot when I want more distance out of the 410 loads. The #4 shot does lose it's effectiveness after about 10 yards. If you try the federal handgun shells I think you will be happier with your Judge.

You could use a 18 stack if newspaper wrapped with ties and soaked overnight in a nice bath. Then put some denim or an old coat in front of it as if were wearing it.

Do it! It'll be fun, and educational.
I am very interested in this also. I'd like to see what the 410 can do at standard defense distances as well as the 45LC out o 15-20 yards.

the .410 is a pathetic defense round out of a short revolver. the 45lc is an excellent round but there are FAR better smaller frame easier to shoot guns that chamber it. the judge is a toy and shouldnt be a go to gun for anything other than range time.

Yeah, I get that but I keep hearing this and that about this particular revolver and I was wanting some info from one of our people here thinking we might get a shoot from he hip straight answers that might not be found in youtube vids or sites that might not give the best reviews. I don't know anyone that owns one of those things and thought it be a good chance to put the whole Judge thing to bed one way or another.

All I can say is the Federal Personal defense loads are not your Grampa's rabbit load.
