Default The Judge

Taurus 45/410
Anyone have one of these or shot one?
What are your thoughts? I saw one at the shop today and have been thinking pretty hard and heavy.

I personally think they are trying to make the 410 into something it's not. The idea of shooting a shotgun round from a handgun is cool on the surface but no practical. The 410 from a shotgun is mediocre at best for SD, even with the hopped up loads being offered now. 45LC is OK for cowboy action but for SD there are much better rounds out there. Taurus has spotty quality at best, if it were me, I would go elsewhere.....but that's me.

Default Junk

The Judge is a bad handgun idea.

.410 shot from a 2" barrel,
will make determained Bad Guy so angry that he will KILL YOU.

.45 long colt is so wildly inaccurate in tha small of a gun.
Makes as dangerious to you, as the guy you are pointing it at.

Can you even consider the recoil, and mussle blast from eather of those
from a gun as small as that?

Don't take my word for it, view it on you tube.
Watch how wildly inaccurate it is fireing .410.
Remember YOU are responsabe for where Every Pellet goes!

As said, I would pass. When you check the real energy on a 410 , even from a LONG barrel, it is light, The 45 Colt has a LONG jump to get to rifling. IMHO, it is an answer is search of a question. Quality of these has been somewhat indifferent.

I think it's the perfect home defense handgun. Less likely to shoot though the wall and kill your neighbor with the .410. This has been the number 1 selling revolver in our shop for the last 2 years or so.

Check out Winchester's PDX-1 defense ammunition for the .410, awesome IMHO.

I had one, hated it, traded it away. Brutal to shoot in .410 and lousy accuracy with the 45LC.

That's all I would sude it for. Something to slide under the bed or keep in the truck when driving through the Waterloo hood out here. Still on the fence really. I think the 410 would be insane at close range but with the short nose the spread would be quick and the 45 would be worth much at distance.

The guys on the indoor range are blowing the centers out of the targets at 7 yards and a few of the fellas are shooting trap with them at the 16 yard line.

The Judges are sold with barrel lengths in excess of 6 inches and are quite accurate IMHO. The 3 inch mag version is quite the handful but the regular Judge chambered in 2 3/4 isn't all that bad for a normal man, kind of like shooting a .357.

I have one and I shoot it a lot. Mainly for the woodpeckers that try to make my buildings a nest, it is way quicker than a shotgun to get on target.

The Judge is what it is. I like mine and it works fine for what I use it for. Great tractor gun, heck of a lot handier than a rifle or shotgun.

I wanted something that I could waste small vermin around the farm buildings without worrying about over penetration or backstop and still have the option of taking down a feral dog or cat. Mine is the 2 3/4" chamber w/6" bbl.. Had it over 2 years and it gets a lot of use. Zero problems so far.

Not the most accurate handgun I own or the best scattergun, but it works. I don't think I'd trust either round with my life, Too many other good choices out there. Short version, there is a lot it won't do well, but it does quite a bit real well.

PS. Jester, I spent some time in the "hood" you speak of. We wrestled E. High back in the day, even hoisted a few at Buzz's bar, till it Exploded back in "94"! Stay safe, Ken
