info on a iver johnson arms and cycle
2 Attachment(s)
I am looking for any info anyone can give on this Iver Johnson arms and cycle works hand gun. What I know is that it is a 5 shot, believed to be a 32 and the only info on the gun is a stamp on the butt reading pat June 16 96 - aug 25. The number on the trigger guide is 12 and the inside grip stamp is also 12. Anyone got anything?

Defib- have my Iver Johnson reference (courtesy of the late Mr. Bill Goforth) Will check it when I get home later today. In general, if caliber is not marked on the barrel, it is a black powder .32 S&W or .38 S&W. Caliber markings on barrel= smokeless.

How are they as a brand though? Safe to shoot?

Iver Johnson was one of the larger US makers of handguns and shotguns for many years 1871-1993. Decent guns, not real high dollar, but not pot metal junk either. The design (top break) limits enegy it will handle.

OK- made it home. I THINK you have a Safety Automatic, and that date marking was used on guns made 1905-1906. Yours is likely 1905. SN is also marked on the area above the cyliner- have to remove cylinder to read it. 1905 was in the smokeless era. Unless gun has been buffed down for a refinish, should have markings on top of the barrel rib.
