Combat style grips from mustang. There'sa pair on ebay right now i believe. Also the wolff reduced power spring kit is a worthwhile upgrade.

I'm talking lots of very nice 686s, 19s, 66s, 29s, Detective Specials, Cobras, etc. I'm not considering current production models.

Two weeks ago, my FIL bought a 4" 686 no dash for $500. Mechanically in amazing condition but had a lot of cosmetic scratches and looked like someone had tried a DIY polish job on the gun. It took me 45 minutes with my beadblaster and it looks brand new! Call me narrow minded if you want, but a no dash 686 for $500 beats any Ruger every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
More rugers for the rest of us. The six line is classic though, i wont waste my money on a colt, not when i can get the exact same thing for a fraction of the cost. Used Smith and used classic rugers are pretty close in price, or were a year ago. Now where i am a used colt, in crappy condition is 1k, used smith close to 600 or 700.

The more that I think about it, I might go for a Ruger Blackhawk. I don't know if I want to spend the bucks for the S&W. I have a line on a Blackhawk in .44mag with 7 1/2" barrel for $600 new. I wouldn't have to spend to add another caliber to the reloading bench. I already have a Taurus 44 with 8 3/8" that I shoot in SA 99% of the time.

I am in the middle of a case of the wants and don't really need a new gun. When this happens, usually it is an impulse buy that happens. Just trying to get in more research this time.

Hey,

Watching the news will do that to you. Since December I've purchased a Ruger Mini 14, Ruger GP 100 and a Kimber Custom II. ( only because I got tired of waiting for the Ruger SR1911 to come in.)

I used to have a Ruger Blackhawk .44 like the one you're looking at and shot an awful lot of deer with it. Put a set of pachmayr grips on and your good to go!

These cases of "the wants" can get expensive quick! I'm not sure I'm done yet this Spring...
