I just couldn't Pass Up this Ruger "Alaskan" 454 Casull Deal!
I took a short business trip this week and stumbled across a deal I just couldn't pass up...found a Ruger Alaskan .454 in new/used condition at nearly half the market price. The former owner told me it was his first firearm. He seemed almost frightened of it, and he was obviously relieved to be selling it. He even tossed in the one and only box of ammo he ever purchased for it, minus 6 rounds. I truly believe those were the only 6 rounds ever fired out of this revolver. It is as new, except he never cleaned it after it was first fired about a year ago. I'm anxious to take it out this weekend. What kind of earth-shaking fun should I expect out of it?

Great gun--you can shoot soft .45 Colts in it on the range all day long and save the 454's for packing--congrats!

We're starting to see some deals not quite that good on .500 S&Ws up here. "Only been fired 4 times".

I'd love to find a deal on A .500 S&W. For some strange reason I love the recoil of the big bores. One day at the range I shot 80 rounds of .50 A&E through my Desert Eagle. The people on either side of me were happy campers when I ran out of ammo. I hear the .500 S&W has more bark than the DE.

If at all possible, please kill a bear or two with it.

Expect a good recoil and to be damn sore, if you are a shooting .454's out of it.

Good deal there Kelly, Congrats on the find! I'm sure you'll find the Alaskan to be an excellent revolver. And if not...
you have my address!

I pick up a Ruger 454 for $ 400 in new condition for the same reason. Sold my Rageing Bull and kept the Ruger, the Rageing Bull should be called the Rageing ***** Cat. I also have a S&W .500 from the custom shop and a 460 barrel for my Encore. My CCW gun is a 329 PD. Don`t want to take a knife to a gun fight.
