How to sight in a pistol?
I bought a Taurus model 83 .38 special the other day. It is my first pistol and I don't know that much about sighting them in. Help!

That has adjustable sights, no?

Usually, the owner's manual has information on sighting in. If you have not read it (or are missing it), the adjustment is normally done with the rear sight being moved in the direction you want the projectile to go.
If shooting to the left, then move the rear sight to the right. If shooting low, then move the sight up.

But this goes out the window if your grouping is not consistent. If your grouping is over 5 inches at 7 yards, practice is required before messing with the sights (or maybe a lesson in handgun shooting).

I'd suggest you shoot off of a rest of some sort, to establish your point of impact. Sandbags will do. Then make any needed sight adjustments, as posted. Consider starting at a distance of about 20 feet.

Merry Christmas.... I have to agree with my forum friends. to add sight picture, very Important and to repeat if you need to make adjustments, rear sight up/down left/right use small increments. Take a look at my avatar this is the sight picture you will be looking for. I hope this helps.
