Default Holster help please!!!!

Hi All,
I need some help, so once again I am turning to my friends on our board here. I am picking up a Ruger Blackhawk convertible 375mag/9mm with a 4.5 inch barrel on Friday. Basically I just wanted a cowboy gun(still a kid inside I guess). Anyway I am looking for a holster, not one to carry around but something I can wear at the range because this gun is for plinking and to keep on the nightstand for self defense at night sometimes. Does anyone know of a holster that wont make me look ridiculous? Thanks everyone, Ed

Go with a leather holster, proper for the gun design. If I were only going to take it to the range, I'd put it in a gun case. It really wouldnt look right to have a single action in a holster with shorts on,,,so it depends on how you dress as to how it looks. Its hard to offer advice on an open ended question like that.

Though expensive and not manufactured any longer, the Ruger brand flap holsters made by Bianchi are a real touch of class. Like anything worth having, with proper care you should be able to recover all your money, and many times more money, upon your sale of the holster in the future. These can be bought on EBAY. Otherwise a Hunter brand leather holster is actually a quite good classic holster that doesnt make the wearer look like a checkered pants dandy.

My luck is that unless it has history it wont appreciate. If I were not carrying it to hunt, and only going to the range, I'd take the $80 or so and buy a nice wooden range box and carry it in that way, unless you are competing in cowboy action shooting, then, appropriate for the event.

Harbor Freight has a really neat little wooden tool box that makes a wonderful range box for handguns, by the way, and not too pricey.
