i am caught between the heritage 22lr/mag vs. the beretta neos. like the idea of having a magnum cylinder but like the rapid fire and quick reloading of the beretta any advice would be appreciated.

Lately there seems to have been some quality issues with the Heritage revolvers.
I have shot two of them without any problems, they are fun to shoot and pretty accurate.
I've also heard of issues with the Beretta lately, but I don't remember what kind of issue.
I recommend looking at a Ruger MKIII or 22/45 for the semi-auto option and a Ruger Single Six for the revolver.

Not knowing your experience, it is difficult to give you an opinion of what is best.

If you are starting to get into handguns, go with a single action .22 revolver and learn the basics of shooting. You learn nothing from "spray and pray" with a semi-auto.

I agree with General-Lee. I have several old model Ruger single sixes. Great guns and no problems over the years. As far as semi auto the gsg 1911 .22 is a great gun.

I once owned a Heritage Rough Rider. I could not wait to get rid of it. It went back to the their customer service folks twice and it never did function properly. I finally used it in a trade. IMO, it was a piece of junk, made out of junk. You get what you pay for.
