Default Here's a fascinating book for your enjoyment.

Zhuk, A.B., The Illustrated Encyclopedia Of Handguns: Pistols And Revolvers Of The World, 1870 To The Present
Greenhill Books, London Stackpole Books, Pennsylvania 1995 304 pages

This is a hugely informative and downright beautiful book. Zhuk's illustrations are not photographs, but line drawings of unbelievable accuracy, detail and artistic draftsmanship. His drawings of intricately engraved guns will take your breath away. And while "the present" stops in 1995, anyone with an interest in the history and development of handguns who is not already a firearms historian will learn a lot.

I've had my copy since 1999, and wouldn't part with it for anything.

I received that book as a gift last year. It's pretty good, but it leaves out way too many firearms. It serves mainly as one book among many others.

I've never yet seen one book that covers everything, but this one has a lot of useful info and gorgeous drawings. IMO, everyone needs many books on any subject of interest, especially guns. Recipes are just sources of ideas for me, but I have a bunch of cookbooks. Hell of a lot of history stuff, too.

Yes, Twoolddogs, the sections on Spanish weapons particularly interested me. And I had no idea how many S&W revolver knockoffs have been produced in various in the last century or so.
